Where to go in Winter
Special destinationsIt is so beautiful here at Landhof that you may not want to leave us at all... But if you do feel like a day out, we can highly recommend a number of destinations in the surrounding area:
Winter Walks
How about a stroll through the wonderfully snow-covered winter landscape? We have no less than 125 kilometres of perfectly groomed winter hiking trails here at the Wilder Kaiser!
Ellmau, Going, Scheffau and Söll can also be explored on foot in winter - with numerous restaurants along the way, combined with a simply quite beautiful scenery
Snowshoeing
You can experience a very special kind of winter walking with snowshoes: Rather like the old idea with the tennis rackets, you slip the snow shoe over your regular winter boots. They allow you to head off on extended tours in deep or powder snow!
Follow the tracks of wild animals through snow-covered woods, or climb a summit if that is what you fancy - snowshoeing is suitable for every fitness level and every taste. Even for children, this type of hiking can offer a great new experience in nature. On request, we will gladly arrange the appropriate equipment, as well as experienced guide to help you explore new trails...
Ice-Skating
The ice rinks in Going and Söll are easily accessible, as are those in St. Johann/Tirol and Kufstein. You can hire ice skates at the rinks themselves and we will be happy to help you make your reservations in advance.
“Ice penguins” are on hand to help your little ones with their first tentative steps on the slippery floor. More experienced skaters will appreciate the covered ice rink facilities at Kufstein Arena.
Curling
Five regional facilities invite you to sample the delights of the ever-popular winter sport of curling!
In addition to the ice rinks in Going and at Söller Moorsee, there are also curling rinks in Ellmau near Naschberghof, in Scheffau near Hintersteinersee and at Going Curling Lanes. No matter how good (or bad) you are - everyone is welcome here!
