Ellmau Summer Nights

From mid-June to the start of October, Ellmau turns into a promenade every Tuesday. Starting at 18 hrs, the whole village is closed to cars and visitors are invited to relax and unwind in pop-up bars and live music Local specialities from the region - such as doughnuts, dumplings and sausages – can all be sampled here alongside locally crafted Tyrolean treasures.

The Wilder Kaiser Moors

Nature in its best: the rejuvenated moorland landscape “Moor & More” on the southern slopes of the Wilder Kaiser provides fascinating information about rare and untouched nature. Adventure paths and hiking trails create as an open-air classroom, crammed full of rare flora and fauna.

Two hiking routes particularly lend themselves to youngsters – using puzzle books and interactive information points they can follow their curiosity, making many new discoveries along the way: The best starting point for the „Rocky Runde“ circuit is Going Bathing Lake’s car park, and the play area at St Johann’s Gasthof Römerhof for the „Törfchenrunde“ circuit.

“Bergdoktor“ Hikes


For fans of the series, there are frequent hikes to all the well-known locations in summer. Hiking guide Peter knows how to tell a story and Landhof hostess Isabelle has numerous anecdotes from her time as an extra on set.

There are also periodic fan days for die-hard lovers of the series, who can enjoy the experience of meeting their idols in the flesh!

What could be nicer on a hot summer’s day than a refreshing swim? There are no less than four bathing lakes and swimming pools in the immediate vicinity: KaiserBad Ellmau, Lake Ahornsee Söll, Going Bathing Lake, Hintersteiner and Schwarzsee lakes.

Urlaub beim Bergdoktor

Der Bergdoktor öffnete seine Praxis in Ellmau im Jahr 1992 zum ersten Mal: Gerhard Lippert verkörperte fünf Jahre lang den leidenschaftlich engagierten Dr. Martin Gruber. Seit 2008 hat der Österreicher Hans Sigl mit dem Bergdoktor eine seiner Lebensrollen gefunden; bislang flimmerten 12 Staffeln der ungebrochen erfolgreichen Serie über die Bildschirme. Isabelle Winkler war drei Jahre lang Teil des Teams.
